Service Transition Manager

You’ve probably never been a part of service transitions with such high stakes before. This is a rare chance to bring your full skillset – from service architecture, to systems operations, to stakeholder management – and manage transitions where national interest and security are key factors.

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more.

Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.

Our Digital, Data and Technology team are at the forefront of digital innovation. They provide best in-class solutions for our customers, helping to shape and support a data driven future for UK government. Whether it’s creating bespoke, secure software, offering programme and application support or moving an entire embassy’s servers to a Cloud platform. No matter the task, they are on hand to support. Now, you’ve got the opportunity to join them.

Providing innovation to government partners
Delivering best-in-class solutions
Working at the cutting-edge of technology
It all matters.

Bring to life services that help protect the national interest

In this vital role, you’ll ensure the hard work of Digital, Data and Technology colleagues goes live smoothly – and makes a positive impact. From platform changes to new software, you’ll manage the transition of products or services into live operations. At the heart of everything you do will be a keen focus on making sure every requirement of the service design is realised in operation.

To that end, you’ll plan and coordinate resources and activities across a range of projects, suppliers and operational resolver teams. Your varied remit will span methodology and procedures, acceptance criteria and analysis. You’ll be a key decision maker and point of escalation.

Use your full range of skills to manage work with huge consequences

We believe in continuous improvement. And with work of such high importance to our customers – and our nation – we’re always seeking ways to get ahead of challenges. So you’ll carry out regular reviews of transition activity with operational support teams. You’ll identify issues, make recommendations and negotiate improvements to implementation plans. Maintaining the service transition dashboard, you’ll see that we always have clear visibility of new, amended or disabled services. You’ll also contribute to the production of management information and reports.

Qualified to NVQ Level 3 or equivalent plus ITIL Foundation or higher, you’ll bring to the role a range of key skills. Fluent in systems operations and service architecture, you have the ability to analyse, interrogate and evaluate data, and to write and interpret professional and technical documents. A good way with people is as important as your technical talent. You’re adept at customer service and stakeholder management, both in person and in writing.

Grow your career with full support

Working with us you’ll help keep people, information, and assets safe around the world. It’s a role you can feel proud of; and we aim to make every part of your career just as rewarding. That’s why when you join us, expect to receive a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service Pension. Along with this, you’ll also have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, café, and restaurant, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It's a great set of benefits made to support all you do, and all you need.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve Developed Vetting clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
