Have you ever thought about getting more from your career as a Project Manager, and working on a £50m+ portfolio of projects around the world? A career where you’ll join an organisation that operates on a large scale to deliver a first-class service for the UK government and our international partners. A career where your work will help to protect and secure our vital mission. If you’re looking for your job, this could be your next move.

As a trusted government partner we work on a huge range of projects, and help protect the UK’s global interests. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications securely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides. It’s important work, and you could take your career to new heights as you focus your talents on a wide range of exciting projects.

Use all your project management skills to support our global mission

When you join us in this exciting role, you’ll be responsible for the end-to-end delivery of a range of projects which could be worth up to £2m, and support Senior Project Managers in the management and delivery of larger and more complex programmes of work. These could involve anything from building refurbishments to IT infrastructure installations and critical security work. As well as planning and defining the work schedule for each project, and making sure the correct contracts and resources are in place, you’ll be expected to identify and mitigate potential risks, manage project change and find solutions to any problems that arise.

But your work won’t stop here – you’ll also monitor and record financial and other resources within the project, provide updates to the Project Board, set the project cost and resources baseline, and ensure that all data entries are accurate and complete. In order to identify and understand stakeholder requirements, interests and influences, you’ll work on a comprehensive communications strategy. We’ll also expect you to embed rigorous project risk and change management processes and procedures, and escalate any issues.

Help to deliver complex and challenging projects around the world

With Prince 2 Practitioner, APMP, ISEB Certificate in Project Management or their equivalent (or the ability to obtain this qualification within six months of taking the role) you’ll have delivered a range of complex projects and possess well developed experience of project management methodologies and their application. You should have a good understanding of relevant Health & Safety standards and procedures, and possess excellent resource, stakeholder, contract and cost management skills.

Capable of coordinating and consolidating project plans and successfully deploying resources, you’ll be a skilled risk manager and an expert user of MS Project or an equivalent project planning tool. Knowledge of analysis techniques and their application in a project environment would be desirable, as would an understanding of benefits management. We’re currently delivering projects in many different countries around the world, so your work may involve overseas travel, sometimes to remote and challenging destinations.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas. How will we help you in return? We offer a competitive salary, 25-30 days’ annual leave per year (depending on length of service) and a Civil Service pension. While working in the UK you’ll have access to an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Above all else, we can offer your job, bigger. As a Project Manager you’ll be using all your skills with an organisation that protects people, information and assets around the world. Using your skills in a way that just means more.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our process. This role would require you to undergo Developed Vettiong (DV) clearance. You can find out more about this on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
