The success of a government project can depend on secure, timely shipments. Fortunately, our Logistics team always deliver the goods. From dedicated drivers to King's Messengers, who deliver to 250+ destinations worldwide, moving over a million kilograms of freight annually across land, air, and sea. And now, you've got the opportunity to join them. As an Apprentice you’ll become part of this expert team, providing diplomatic secure logistics, courier services and airfreight to embassies and consulates all around the world.

Whether you’re a school-leaver, a career-changer, or just looking to enhance your current skills, an apprenticeship with us will give you hands-on experience, paid qualifications, and a truly rewarding sense of impact as you learn the ropes of how a global logistics operation works.

Let’s introduce ourselves

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. We design and construct secure government buildings, courier diplomatic packages worldwide, safeguard government tech, and a whole lot more. Our work is as varied and vital as it gets, but we never lose sight of the value of our people. Their skills, aspirations and growth mean as much as the global mission we're on. In our world, it all matters.

So what will you do?

You’ll join our Regional Distribution Centre at Hanslope Park, learning how to handle and pack important goods and keep accurate records for our government-level customers. You’ll take deliveries, check for discrepancies, store goods, pick and pack orders for secure shipment, load goods for dispatch, record disposals, input accurate data for Track and Trace, and maintain stock records – all things that enable a smooth-running operation. By the end of the programme, you’ll have developed the essential skills to contribute to a efficient logistics network – one that supports government work across the globe.

We’ll support you to complete your Level 2 Supply Chain Warehouse Operative apprenticeship. When you pass your final assessments, there’s a good chance we’ll offer you a full-time role.

What we look for

This apprenticeship is open to everyone, but you must:

• Be a British Citizen who’s lived in the UK for the last three years before the first day of your apprenticeship (aiming to start September 2024), and for at least five of the last ten years
• Be at least 16 years old by 1 July 2024 so you can complete Security Check (SC) clearance before your start date
• Have at least two GCSEs (or equivalent e.g. O levels) in Maths and English at grades 9-4 (A*-C)
• Have a logical approach to managing your time and work well within a team
• Be proficient using IT systems efficiently and accurately

Please note: if you already have a qualification at the same (or a higher level) in a similar discipline, you may not be able to apply unless the apprenticeship qualification provides learning and skills that are materially different to what you’ve studied before. If your qualification is in a different field, then you are eligible to apply.

Vetting
Because of the secure nature of what we do for our government-level customers, all our employees have to be security cleared before joining us. That’s why, if you’re successful in your application, you’ll need to go through a vetting process. This role will require you to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance. It’s important information so make sure you read the details before applying. You can find out more about vetting on our careers site or by visiting: www.gov.uk/guidance/united-kingdom-security-vetting-applicant

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And why we’re recognised as a ‘Carer Confident’ workplace. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.

Hanslope Park based posts attract a Location Allowance of £1,750 per annum.
