Finance Business Partner

Have you ever thought about growing your career with an organisation that operates on a global scale to deliver a first-class service for the UK government and our international partners? A career where you’ll provide financial advice and support our planning process as a member of our Strategic and Operational Finance team. A career where you’ll work in a complex organisation which is at the forefront of the government’s response to events which threaten the United Kingdom’s security and prosperity. If you’re looking for your job, but bigger, this could be your next move.

As a trusted government partner we work on a huge range of projects, and help protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications securely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides. It’s exciting work, and you could play a vital part as you help us develop the skills of some of our most important teams.

Build key relationships and offer vital financial support to our global organisation

Are you an enthusiastic relationship builder and capable of communicating financial knowledge and expertise to a wide range of senior stakeholders? And are you ready to add value as you monitor and present financial performance against operational and strategic targets? If you are then we want to hear from you, because as a Finance Business Partner with us, you’ll be responsible for offering vital financial support to our business.

Pulling in technical and SME resources – such as commercial and project accountants – when required, you’ll support the business planning process, work that includes setting targets, communicating assumptions, coordinating budget preparations and providing support and challenge to our senior management teams. But your work won’t stop here – you’ll also work alongside the Commercial Finance team on the adoption of relevant technical policies such as IFRS15, assessing opportunities and advising on the mitigation of risks.

Use your financial skills with a business that helps to keep the country secure

With an accounting qualification such as CIMA, ACCA, ACA with PQE experience, and capable of working at strategic and operational levels, you’ll have a practical understanding of business partnering in a project organisation. With excellent analytical skills and the ability to produce concise, informative reports from large quantities of data, you’ll be an inspirational influencer and ready to challenge and drive change. You should also have functional knowledge of Enterprise Resource Planning, with a particular focus on Oracle Financials or Salesforce, though if you don’t have this we will provide on-the-job training.

A superb manager of relationships with customers and supplies, and with the ability to analyse, interrogate and evaluate data with care and accuracy, you’ll also possess well developed financial planning, reporting, governance and control skills. Familiarity with the principles and governance of managing public money would be desirable, as would experience of working in public sector finance and with strategic sourcing or procurement departments.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas. How will we help you in return? We offer a competitive salary, 25-30 days’ annual leave per year (depending on length of service) and a Civil Service pension. Depending on business need, we can accommodate some hybrid working between the office and home. While on-site, you’ll have access to an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Above all else, we can offer your job, bigger. As Finance Business Partner you’ll be using all your skills with an organisation that protects people, information and assets around the world. Using your skills in a way that just means more.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve a Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
