Learning and Skills Development Coordinator

This job is aligned with the attached Core Role Profile.

Have you ever thought about growing your career with an organisation that operates on a global scale to deliver a first-class service for the UK government and our international partners? A career where you’ll join a brand new team that focuses on managing and supporting the resourcing needs, training and development of the people who work for our Engineering and Operations department. A career where you’ll work in a complex organisation which is at the forefront of the government’s response to events which threaten the United Kingdom’s security and prosperity. If you’re looking for your job, but bigger, this could be your next move.

As a trusted government partner we work on a huge range of projects, and help protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications securely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides. It’s exciting work, and you could play a vital part as you help us develop the skills of some of our most important teams.

Grow your career as you help us manage our skills development programme

This is a role where you’ll enjoy important responsibilities from day one, as you look after the management of the skills and learning development training plans for our Engineering and Operations (E&O) department. Working on vital procurement activities and helping to organise the timetabling and payment of training courses and a range of career path development initiatives, you’ll also focus on the day-to-day maintenance of E&O’s learning budget.

But your work won’t stop here – this is a job where you’ll have the opportunity to develop and grow your career as you manage and maintain the skills data audit for the department, and ensure the skills matrix is kept up to date and tracked correctly. You’ll also be responsible for keeping our teams up to speed on any new learning and development opportunities, provide advice to service users, and contribute to the improvement of the work we do. This is the perfect role for someone who is passionate about helping other people develop their futures, and as a new role in a new team, will give you the opportunity to be part of the ongoing growth of our business.

Use your organisational skills to deliver results in a fast-paced environment

A confident planner and organiser with the skills to analyse, interrogate and evaluate data, your superb communication skills will help you develop great relationships with everyone you work with. Capable of interpreting a wide range of professional and technical documents, your administration experience should include recording and managing data including basic finances – with this in mind, you’ll have advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.

In addition to these skills, we’ll look for experience of managing small projects, and the ability to work effectively in a customer-facing role while organising your own workload in a pacey, fast-moving environment. Previous experience of working in a similar role or related function would be an advantage, as would knowledge of employment law, data protection regulations and other relevant legislation. But most important is a commitment to learn and grow, and the desire to build your career with a forward-thinking, global organisation.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas. How will we help you in return? We offer a competitive salary, 25-30 days’ annual leave per year (depending on length of service) and a Civil Service pension. Depending on business need, we can accommodate some hybrid working between the office and home. While on-site, you’ll have access to an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Above all else, we can offer your job, bigger. As a Learning and Skills Development Coordinator, you’ll be helping your colleagues to develop the knowledge and expertise they need to help us protect people, information and assets around the world. Using your skills in a way that just means more.

Every single colleague must be security cleared before joining us. If you’re successful in your application, we’ll ask you to undergo our vetting process to achieve a minimum of Security Check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website: https://www.fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
