Building a state-of-the-art embassy in Bangkok. Delivering a global seismic survey. Completing a highly secure construction project for the MOD. These are the kind of projects you’ll help us win as our new Bid Manager at FCDO Services. If you’re an experienced bid manager looking for the next challenge, or a bid writer aspiring to manage the end to end proposal process, this could be your next step, but bigger.

The projects we bid for, and win, have national importance. Because, as a trusted government partner, we help protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications securely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides. It’s exciting work – and you could be at the very start of it all.

Create the blueprint for projects with worldwide impact

We know successful projects start with successful bids – but this role isn’t just about winning the work. It’s about truly understanding our customers’ needs: collaborating with a diverse range of specialist teams to come up with spot-on solutions for complex, exceptionally unique projects. It’ll see you engage with, and motivate, subject matter experts right across FCDO Services, gathering their input and insights to help you write the most compelling bids possible.

As part of our small and experienced Bid Management Team, you’ll treat each bid as a blueprint for the work we’ll deliver. That work varies hugely in both complexity and scale – everything up to £multimillion projects. So building trusted relationships with our government-level customers, by creating timely, commercially viable and compliant bids, is key. In short? You simply won’t find work like this anywhere else.

Manage the end-to-end bidding process for incredibly unique contracts

A people person with excellent writing skills and attention to detail, you’ll be experienced at writing bids that capture the attention and imagination of decision-makers. You’ll be easy to work with. Responsive to customer queries. Always reliable. And a natural at collaborating with teams throughout the organisation.

You’ll manage the end-to-end process of multiple bids at once, so you’ll be highly organised and energised by a fast-paced, varied environment. Our bids are all time-sensitive too, so working quickly without compromising on the quality we’re known for will be important.

Finally, we don’t expect you to be an expert, or even have experience, in all the work we do. The bids you work on will span from Construction to Professional Services. Logistics to Commercial. What you do need to be is a great listener, and someone who’s happy to learn as they go. You might even spot opportunities to improve on our processes, and find new ways to deliver more efficiently for our customers.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas. How will we help you in return? We offer a competitive salary, 25-30 days’ annual leave per year (depending on length of service) and a Civil Service pension. We also invest in our people – so you’ll have access to training and other development opportunities to help grow your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. Dependant on business need, you’ll also have the option to split your time between working from the office and from home. Above all else, we can offer your job, bigger. As a Bid Manager, you’ll map projects that help us protect people, information and assets around the world. Using your skills in a way that just means more.

You are able to start work with Security Check (SC) clearance, with Developed Vetting (DV) being a longer-term requirement of the role. You can find out more about vetting on our website: fcdoservicescareers.co.uk/how-to-apply/
