Billing Team Lead

Based at Hanslope Park near Milton Keynes, MK19 7BH, with the flexibility of hybrid working depending on business need

When it comes to providing effective financial transactions, yours are of the highest quality, and always delivered on time. And that’s not all. You’re ready to offer expert advice and support when it comes to the day-to-day management of projects and billing processes, and capable of using your knowledge to analyse, interrogate and evaluate data.

If this sounds like you, then FCDO Services could be the key to your next step. As a trusted government partner, we protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. We store visa applications safely in the Cloud. And a whole lot more besides.

Manage a high profile team that works with departments throughout FCDO Services

This is a role where you’ll be managing the small team that raises and issues invoices, overseeing all aspects of finance projects, and ensuring billing is accurate and timely. Staff management experience is essential as you’ll also deliver the management and performance of your team through training, coaching and development, and ensure all projects are of the highest quality prior to any forward billing. Maintaining compliance with operational targets, operating level agreements, audit, processes and policies, we’ll expect you to use all your expertise as a trouble-shooter, and put your understanding of the importance of an efficient and robust billing process to the success of an organisation to good use.

Work as one of the key players in inter-departmental relations

Building and maintaining strong relationships with colleagues throughout FCDO Services, you’ll be responsible for identifying issues which indicate operating problems or process amendments. Reviewing and updating process, engaging with colleagues in respect of changes and best practice, and monitoring changes that have been requested to ensure they’re enacted – these will be key to your success. You’ll also use your accounting and financial reporting skills to ensure internal targets are met and any audits undertaken by your team are accurate. With this in mind, an understanding of specialist systems and databases such as ERP and Oracle is desirable, as is a good working knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite of software.

Take the next step as you develop your career

When you join us, you’ll be helping to protect the nation’s interests at home and overseas – but how will we help you in return? As well as a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and Civil Service pension, we’ll also support your development as you advance your career. And although you’ll be based at Hanslope Park and required to be in the office for training, there will be the opportunity to incorporate elements of hybrid working into your contract. In short, it’s your job, bigger.
