Internal Messenger Co-ordinator

Manager of Messengers/ Internal Messenger Co-ordinator

You’re an experienced line manager who’s familiar with the mail room environment, and you’re passionate about finding new ways to make processes run even more smoothly. You also have a measured approach – you like to learn, digest and plan ahead. All of which means you could be ideally suited to the role of Internal Manager of Messengers at FCDO Services.

As the person heading up our mail room, you’ll undertake work that has a global reach. After all, as a trusted government partner, we’re here to protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We courier diplomatic packages across continents. We keep complex projects on track, and on budget. And a whole lot more. It’s the kind of work that makes having an efficient and effective mail room vital. This is your job, bigger.

Use your skills to keep things moving

As an organisation, we’re always focused on customer service; on building relationships and being reliable, responsive, and easy to work with. Our mail room embodies all of those traits, and in this role, you’ll ensure they continue to define the way we work. It’s a role that calls for you to provide encouraging and supportive leadership, as well as the kind of fresh perspective that will help us to introduce more technically-driven ways of working. As you’d expect, it can get pretty busy in our environment, so a key focus for you will be delivering a great level of customer service.

Make your mark on mail

You’ll lead, motivate and support a team of 10 colleagues as well as sometimes helping with the actual delivery – we’re responsible for processing and delivering all of the main mail from the London office. That can involve a range of processes, including using a banking machine, DHL express point and the security scanning of items. Your specific responsibilities will include everything from managing service bookings and providing charging details though to problem solving, allocating work rosters, and handling tasks like appraisals and managing leave requests.

You’ll be the first port of call for anyone looking to book mail room services or to get information about the location of items and delivery timescales. It makes this a very varied environment that will give you plenty of scope for development.

Get all the support you need to thrive

If you’re keen to learn with a dynamic and energetic approach, this could be the perfect environment for you. This is a role that’s made for someone who can relate to and inspire others. You’ll need some basic IT skills and if you have an understanding of Health & Safety and manual handling, that would be even better. Our focus will be on helping you to develop your potential so that you can enable us to develop ours – and that means we’ll be more than happy to help you grow your skills on the job.

In other words, this is a role that you really can make your own. As well as that, you can look forward to 25 days of annual leave each year plus nine days’ of Public Holidays and Privilege Holidays; access to an exclusive discounts portal; on-site facilities like a restaurant, wellbeing room and an OFSTED-registered nursery; and a whole host of other excellent rewards and benefits.
