Mechanical & Electrical Engineer

At FCDO Services, we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Our projects are both vital and wide-ranging: everything from rewiring a centuries-old embassy to delivering secure technology across continents.

As a Mechanical & Electrical Engineer, you’ll either be based in London or Milton Keynes, but you’ll regularly travel all over the world. No matter where you’re working from, you’ll be responsible for leading on the design and management of a range of Mechanical and Electrical projects – ranging from £10,000 all the way up to £1million in value.

Discover an opportunity that’ll take your career higher

No two days will be the same, as you’ll see yourself taking on projects from beginning to end. From understanding and defining the customer’s requirements to providing regular project reports, you’ll be willing to adapt to the task at hand. Not to mention that you’ll be the go-to for Mechanical and Electrical Engineering advice, not only for our internal teams, but for customers and stakeholders too.

With all that said, you’ll also work cross-functionally, touching base with Architects, Surveyors and Structural Engineers to ensure all aspects of contracting and maintenance are co-ordinated seamlessly. And you’ll keep an eye on the wider market too, identifying opportunities to support the organisation’s growth.

Use your technical expertise to solve technical challenges

With such wide-ranging projects and responsibility, you’ll have Engineering qualifications, experience in the field and be an expert communicator, who’s willing to take each new challenge head on. What’s more, you’ll be in the know when it comes to Health and Safety legislation, and you’ll be proficient using AutoCAD and the Microsoft suite.

Plus, it would be even better if you have experience using specialist software, such as IES, Amtech and Dialux. And, with the travel this role will entail, it would be highly beneficial if you have experience working overseas. And as each new day will see you working with government-level customers around the world, you’ll uphold our customer promise in everything you do: to be reliable, responsive and build relationships.

Bring your expertise and find a career with global impact

So, it’s fair to say that we expect a lot, but we’ll give you a lot back too. That starts with great benefits, including flexible working, an on-site nursery, a Civil Service pension, and more. And finally, most importantly, there’s that sense of purpose and impact you’ll feel – because you’ll be using your skills to support a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world. In short, it’s your job – bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you’ll need to undergo Security Check (SC) as part of your application. Plus, if successful, you’ll need to go through Developed Vetting (DV). You can find out more about this process on our website.
