Digital Learning Lead

We’re FCDO Services, formerly known as FCO Services. We’re a government organisation here to protect people, information, and assets all over the world. And we do that by providing a wide variety of vital services to high-level government customers, both in the UK and overseas. At any given moment, we’ll be involved in a broad range of critical projects worldwide: everything from embassy construction, to diplomatic goods deliveries, to providing parliaments with secure WiFi.

That level of work means our global workforce needs to be prepared for the future; constantly learning and improving. To do that they need high quality, engaging, modern digital learning. But creating an organisation-wide learning experience takes time, real skill and in-depth expertise.

That’s where you come in. In the newly created role of Digital Learning Lead, you’ll be developing, rolling out and maintaining professional virtual learning content with our global audience at its heart. In a competitive and ever-changing world, constantly improving and learning means we can be trusted to deliver on our customer promise. But this investment in knowledge is an investment in our people, too – empowering them to do their jobs bigger and better.

Work together to future-proof our workforce
As a staff development champion, engaging a workforce and making learning part of the day job will be second nature to you. A natural communicator and influencer, you’ll be people focused and comfortable building relationships with everyone, from a team leader to a director. High quality external communication and customer service is crucial for us. And the same applies internally. As Digital Learning Lead, you’ll blend training design expertise with an ability to engage with subject matter experts. From finance and risk to customer service, you’ll turn tricky terminology into understandable learning content. Don’t worry, though – no technical training delivery required. Specialist subjects are handled elsewhere.

Teach the team that supports our worldwide network
With a global workforce, travelling for face-to-face learning just isn’t practical. But neither is death by Powerpoint. So, this isn’t about standard e-learning. Are you ready to mastermind a new era of organisation-wide virtual learning? Here, your belief that training is what you do to people and learning is what the people do will fuel your search for best strategies and learning platforms. Following adult-learning best practice principles while handpicking the best and most accessible tools and technologies, you’ll pioneer a new way of learning that’s challenging when needed, fun when appropriate and memorable always. We’re all about transformative learning. Our people want to learning something of value, act on it and change behaviour – on a big scale.

Provide digital expertise and get flexibility
This is a brand new, exciting role and it’ll be busy. But you’re reliable and responsive. You may have a CIPD qualification. You definitely have your finger on the pulse of the digital learning industry. You’re going to bring a lot to the organisation. And we have lots for you in return. Did you know we have a hybrid work model to find balance between home and office? At the same time, we’ll support your work, offering all the benefits and pension of a Civil Service career. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you will need to undergo a vetting process as part of your application. This role requires you to go through Security Clearance (SC). You can find out more about vetting on our website.

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And Employers for Carers. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
