Who we are

If you haven’t heard of FCDO Services, it’s time you did. We work behind the scenes, but this makes what we do even more interesting. Our job is to help the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office (and other government-level customers) protect the UK’s interests at home and overseas. You’ll find us on every continent and in almost every country around the world. Every colleague makes a vital difference. So, the work you do here will mean more.

What you’ll do

With a supportive team around you, you’ll get to work with unique systems and equipment in a high security environment. You’ll write security, installation and maintenance documentation targeted to specific audiences. It means you’ll play a leading role here: updating and improving our documentation processes within an ISO quality space. Setting a whole new standard, your work will enable the design and delivery of our systems to worldwide locations.
As a technical writer, your words will help explain to a wide audience how to install, maintain and use our unique government products and services. You’ll literally write the book on our innovative security systems as they’re developed and implemented across the globe. Along the way, you’ll be focused on customer service – building relationships with people, and always being reliable, responsive and easy to work with.

How you’ll grow

At the same time, you’ll benefit from outstanding on-the-job learning that equips you with new skills for today and tomorrow. We take your progression seriously, that’s why you’ll find excellent opportunities for personal development and all the support you need to explore your future career. With training and development, you’ll find plenty of choice from our In House learning courses and programmes. That’s why this is a role which could really take you somewhere.

What we’re looking for

To keep advancing our documentation standards, we’re looking for life-long learners with a level 3 technical qualification, or a wealth of experience in IT electronics. You’ll also bring experience of writing and processing documents in an ISO quality environment. With an understanding of the audience, we need someone who knows how to create content that is always user-focused; making complex language concepts and processes easy to understand.

Show us your attention to detail; your knowledge of technical systems; your commercial awareness; and within our team you can make a real impact.

Why our people stay

There are many benefits from the moment you join us. But we’re also a trusted employer, and we have a reputation for excellence. That’s why working here brings a sense of pride you won’t find elsewhere.

What happens next

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you will need to undergo a vetting process as part of your application. This role requires you to go through Developed Vetting (DV). You can find out more about vetting on our website.

Hanslope Park based posts attract a Location Allowance of £1,750 per annum.

FCDO Services are regulated by the Civil Service Commission.
