Education, Communication and Promotions Officer

At FCDO Services, we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. It’s how we help to keep people, information and assets safe every day, right across the globe. So whether we’re delivering a worldwide IT rollout, or providing secure building projects overseas, our work is both vital and wide ranging.

To do all this, we have to operate at the very highest standards. At every level, with every team, we need to make sure we’re complying with government policy and legislation. It’s what underpins the success of our organisation, so it’s important that all our colleagues are aware of the latest Health and Safety, Security, Quality Assurance (HSSQ) and Business Continuity policies and training. And that’s where you come in.

Communicate responsive and reactive information to colleagues
As a team, we promote and encourage an excellent security awareness and health and safety culture. We actively work with business areas to help them plan for the unforeseen, and that we’re meeting quality governance standards. Of course, a lot of that responsibility lies with each and every one of us, wherever we are in the world. That’s why it’s crucial our colleagues are kept up-to-date with the latest information. But it’s also bigger than that: it’s about helping change people’s behaviour too – communicating with them in such a way that they genuinely want to improve how they work.

Have impact and influence that’s felt everywhere
This is a role packed with influence: by finding the best ways to communicate with different people, you’ll play a big part in sharing HSSQ knowledge and changing things for the better. That’s why you’ll find our subject matter experts turning to you for your valued communications expertise.

What might you get up to, day to day?
For starters, you’ll produce top-quality education materials and design briefings for colleagues at all levels. That means getting involved in writing digital brochures, weekly bulletins and intranet updates, as well as developing, managing and publicising awareness campaigns and events across FCDO Services. Then there’s responsibilities like keeping on top of office security protocols and making recommendations for how best to communicate any updates. Throughout it all, you’ll make sure we’re always focused on customer service; on building relationships and being reliable, responsive, and easy to work with.

Find room to grow – and find a unique sense of purpose
Join us, and you’ll find there’s plenty of opportunity to make the role your own, and grow in a way that’s personal to you. You’ll bring bags of initiative and be able to prioritise your workload while looking ahead to what else you can add to the role.
Whatever your background, you’ll have a track record of finding room for improvement, and then making it happen. You’ll have excellent communication and interpersonal skills , and an ability for anticipating how people will respond to different forms of communication.

What will you get in return?
First, there’s the excellent benefits, including a Civil Service pension. Then there’s the fact that we’re committed to supporting hybrid working, meaning you’re able to work both in the office and from home. Finally, there’s that sense of purpose: using your skills to maintain a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you will need to undergo a vetting process as part of your application. This role requires you to go through Developed Vetting (DV). You can find out more about vetting on our website.

It takes a diverse team to protect a diverse world.
The vital work we do takes an incredible community of colleagues, with different skills, backgrounds, cultures and identities. We support every individual, so that you always know you’re welcome and valued. It’s what makes us a Disability Confident employer. And Employers for Carers. And it’s how you know you’re joining an inspiring, inclusive organisation.
