Change and Release Manager

At FCDO Services, we protect the UK’s interests all over the world by providing secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. With such far-reaching impact, our IT services have to keep up the pace every moment of every day, running swiftly and seamlessly. As our Change & Release Manager, you’ll be right of the heart of making that happen – so it’s a role packed with influence.

Manage seamless IT changes that safeguard the nation’s interests

Day to day, you’ll make sure any technical changes to our IT services are correctly assessed, scheduled, authorised and implemented in a painless, efficient way. What do these changes look like? They could be anything from software to network to security updates – and you’ll keep an eye on their wider impact across the organisation. After all, our work for government customers protects a whole nation’s interests, so any changes need to be made with as little interruption to our services as possible. It’s why a big part of your role is about ensuring silky-smooth processes, while spotting and mitigating any potential risks to service delivery. But with your constant bigger-picture thinking, this is a challenge you’ll relish.

Inspire a team whose work is essential to us all

Endlessly patient and an excellent communicator – that’s you. You’re a natural leader; someone who’ll manage and develop a talented team of four Change & Release and Configuration Analysts with confidence. You’ll look after their personal development, making sure they’re motivated, inspired and always informed. What’s more, you’ll chair weekly Change Advisory Board (CAB) meetings, keeping stakeholders abreast of what’s happening in your team and getting approval on all proposed changes. That means you’ll need to be able to hold your own and make persuasive arguments, getting people on side and collaborating effectively.

Build depth of experience and make an exceptional impact

Even if you haven’t used it before, you’ll become a real expert in ServiceNow; the market-leading software you’ll use here on a daily basis. It’s how you’ll stay close to the action, controlling changes across our IT services. In terms of your qualifications, ITIL v3 Foundation is a must, as is experience in auditing, line management and change management. In-depth knowledge of ISO standards is another top priority, along with a roll-up-your-sleeves attitude.

There’s no denying it: you’ll give us a lot, but we’ll give you a lot back, too. We’ll back you all the way, making sure you’re able to progress your career and realise your ambitions. You’ll also enjoy brilliant job security and benefits, including a Civil Service pension. Above all, there’s that sense of purpose and pride you’ll feel every day. Because you’ll be using your skills to maintain a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Security Check (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website.
