Senior Architect

Senior Architect
£52,530.00 - £66,300.00 plus £5,000 location allowance and excellent benefits
King Charles Street, London, SW1A 2AH

At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Our projects are both vital and wide-ranging: everything from rewiring a centuries-old embassy to delivering secure technology across continents.

We’re always on the lookout for new ways to grow and support our customers across the world. And that’s where you come in as a Senior Architect.

Discover fulfilling work that’ll see you travel the world

Based in central London, you’ll join a successful and professional team responsible for the delivery of architectural services to a wide range of construction projects and programmes. You’ll work on everything from planning new buildings to refurbishing diplomatic buildings around the world. And you’ll take a lead role in providing professional advice to our customers, undertaking surveys, producing design solution, developing tender documents and managing contractors on site.

In a role bursting with autonomy, you won’t only take on architectural designs. In fact, you’ll see projects end-to-end; from putting out the project plan to managing finances along the way, you’ll do it all. Working in a close-knit team, you’ll be happy taking on a lot of independence, with the assurance that your team is there to support and review your work at every step. Not to mention that you’ll become an international traveller, pursuing new project opportunities or checking progress on existing schemes in any corner of the globe.

Deliver quality work for unique customers

With such varied responsibilities, you’ll need to be a self-starter who’s adaptable and willing to think on the spot. You’ll be purpose-driven, with a knack for spotting complications before they arise. What’s more, it would be highly beneficial if you have experience seeing your designs go from paper to reality – and it would be even better if you’ve got a mind for ensuring sustainability throughout your projects.

Plus, you’ll spend your days working alongside a wide range of customers – including embassy teams and ambassadors themselves – so excellent communication skills are a must. It’ll be down to you to manage expectations, while making logical, efficient decisions to deliver every project to the highest standards. In the same breath, you’ll help us to uphold our customer promise: to be reliable, responsive and build relationships.

Bring your architectural expertise and find a sense of purpose

This role is like no other, as you’ll work on unique projects for secure clients all over the world. So, our team of architects are expected to use various design platforms too. You’ll be competent in the use of AutoCAD and NBS – and if you’ve got extensive experience using Revit that would be a plus. We expect a lot from our Senior Architect, but we’ll give you a lot back too. That starts with great benefits, including flexible working, an on-site nursery, a Civil Service pension, and more. And finally, most importantly, there’s that sense of purpose and impact you’ll feel – because you’ll be using your skills to support a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared to Developed Vetting (DV) standard before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you are successful in your application. You can find out more about this on our website.
