Service Transition Manager

At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we protect the UK’s interests across the world by providing secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. It’s vital work: at FCDO Services, the services you help deliver will provide secure IT and hosting services around the world, managing and storing data important to the nation – from visa applications to high-level communications – safely and securely.

Oversee service transitions with international impact

What does this hands-on role involve? You’ll be responsible for co-ordinating our day-to-day service transition activities. Think of it this way: once a service has been sold to a customer, you’ll be the one who makes sure the requirements of the design are realised in operations and the team is resourced and equipped to make a good first impression. As you’d expect, communication is key: you’ll need to stay on the pulse of what’s happening across several teams so that you’re able to plan, prioritise and co-ordinate resources smoothly and effectively. Plus, you’ll keep an eye on the bigger picture and make it your business to understand what’s in the pipeline. Why? So that you know – early on – what might impact the operations team, and how you can help.

Bring your natural communication skills onto the global stage

Confident and decisive: that’s you. You’re able to balance competing priorities and remain calm under pressure. What’s more, you’ll feel at home providing authoritative advice and rigorous analysis to senior leaders, customers, suppliers and other government departments. It’s all part of how you’ll uphold our customer service promise – to be reliable, responsive and build relationships. Attention to detail and initiative are also both crucial here. After all, you’ll need to know exactly what the customer is expecting while understanding what the operations team require in order to make it all happen. Whoever you talk to – be it customers or colleagues – you’ll hold your own and nurture positive working relationships.

To us, it doesn’t matter where you’ve gained your service transition experience from. It’s more about the way you approach problems and the fresh perspective you can bring to the team. Ultimately, we’re looking for someone who relishes a good challenge – and who isn’t shy of getting stuck into complex projects.

Work with a purpose that millions rely on

There’s no denying it: you’ll give us a lot, but we’ll give you a lot back, too. We’ll support you all the way, making sure you’re able to progress your career and realise your ambitions. You’ll also enjoy brilliant job security and benefits, including a Civil Service pension. Above all, there’s that sense of purpose and pride you’ll feel every day. Because you’ll be using your skills to maintain a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you’ll need to undergo a vetting process before joining us. This role requires you to go through Security Check (SC). You can find out more about vetting on our website.
