Technical Installer
£24,806 plus Location Allowance & Excellent Benefits
Based at Hanslope Park near Milton Keynes, MK19 7BH

At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we provide secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Our projects are both vital and wide-ranging: everything from rewiring a centuries-old embassy to building secure communication sites overseas.

That’s why, as one of our Technical Installers, the work you’ll do will just mean more. It’ll keep people, assets and information safe. It’ll be geographically and technically diverse. And it’ll see you take your current skillset to a whole new level.

Deliver installations that protect the nation’s interests

Working in locations all around the globe, you’ll get involved in many different projects, each one as crucial as the next. You’ll help secure government properties by installing and maintaining technical equipment and systems, such as CCTV, structured cabling, and satellite and radio communications. It also means supporting senior team members with both single-system installations as well as more complex, multi-system installations. When you’re not abroad, you’ll carry out work in the UK, prepare for upcoming trips, or support other specialist teams at FCDO Services.

Work closely with others wherever you are in the world

This is a role that could take you almost anywhere in the world – for up to 22 weeks per year on average – so the prospect of international travel can’t faze you. We’re talking about places that can be remote and challenging, but we’ll never send you somewhere that you’re not comfortable with; your safety always comes first. Wherever you are, you won’t be alone: you’ll be part of a close-knit team that keep an eye out for each other and work well together.
Alongside being a self-starter with excellent communication skills, you’ll bring demonstrable application of your academic knowledge or significant practical installation experience. Specifically, we’re looking for those with relevant qualifications or substantial installation experience in: structured cabling and containment, telecommunications, radio, or security systems.

Bring your technical expertise and have exceptional impact

Our customers look to us to respond with speed, agility and innovation to their ever-changing security challenges. We also always uphold our customer promise: to be reliable, responsive and build relationships. You’ll help us to achieve all this, in everything you do. In return, there’s plenty to look forward to.
First, there’s the excellent benefits, including a Civil Service pension. Then just think of the variety day-to-day, because the importance and sheer diversity of our work will provide some unique challenges – along with many opportunities to progress your career. Finally, there’s that sense of purpose: using your skills to maintain a business that helps protect people, information and assets all around the world. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before being appointed, so you will need to undergo a vetting process as part of your application. This role requires you to go through Developed Vetting (DV). You can find out more about vetting on our website.
