Senior Technical Architect

At FCDO Services (formerly known as FCO Services), we protect the UK’s interests across the world by providing secure construction, digital and logistics services to all sorts of government-level customers, including the Foreign, Commonwealth and Development Office. Our work is vital, whether it’s secure construction of an embassy or safe delivery of government supplies across continents. Then of course, there’s our digital expertise, with work ranging from secure network solutions for government agencies to secure cloud platforms that store UK visa applications.

As one of our Senior Technical Architects, you’ll be at the heart of that effort. Part of a pool of leaders within our team, each Architect will have ownership of a key area of specialism (Networks, Infrastructure, End User Devices, Security). As Senior Technical Architect you will work closely with the Lead Hosting Technical Architect and Service owners to develop compliant, innovative solutions, as well as supporting the wider digital community in an Agile environment.

Deliver solutions that defend the UK’s interests

Within your area, you’ll lead on delivering high-level and low-level technical designs both for our organisation and wider government departments. In everything you do, you’ll ensure our work is best-practice and compliant with all industry and policy standards. Naturally, that means you’ll have extensive experience: for Infrastructure, it’s working with VMware and hyper-converged infrastructure environments. Your technical skills are outstanding and you can explain your work in clear terms for non-technical colleagues too.

Solve problems together – and protect information everywhere

You know that an organisation is stronger when everyone shares their knowledge. So, when people need help, even if it’s not in your own area, you’ll always pitch in, advising others wherever you can. At the end of the day, you want every project we work on to be of exceptional quality, meeting the high security standards of government – and you’ll collaborate with a wide range of technical and non-technical colleagues to solve the unique challenges that come our way.

Provide strategic insight with an international impact

You know your area of expertise inside and out, and you’ve always got an eye on where technology is heading. Creating a detailed and ambitious roadmap for your service owners, you’ll also feed into the overall strategy of the Director and the Chief Architect, lending them your insight to ensure that we stay ahead of the curve and are competitive in our market. And when you do, you’ll be making sure that our government customers get the very highest standards in secure technology, keeping vital data and services safe every day. In short, it’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Developed Vetting (DV) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on out website.
