A motivating communicator and relationship manager, you’re ready to use all your expertise to implement and embed new IT services. Your interpersonal skills allow you to resolve conflicts and keep people on track, and you’re also capable of applying a high level of attention to detail as you work on a number of different projects at the same time. But now you want a new challenge. The chance to develop your career into something with more importance and significance. You want to do your job, but bigger. Here at FCDO Services we’ve got the ideal opportunity for you, one that will allow you to acquire a whole new range of skills and responsibilities.

As a trusted government partner, we work on a huge range of projects, and help protect the UK’s interests around the world. We design and construct secure government buildings. We help earthquake-proof embassies. We keep complex developments on track, and on budget. And a whole lot more besides. Now we’re looking for a methodical, people-focused Service Transition Manager to join our IT Operations and help manage the smooth transition of products and services into live operations.

Help to implement a wide range of high security IT projects.

In this vital role you’ll join a hands-on and highly collaborative team, work with a Project Manager to ensure that all new IT services go live in a controlled manner, and that the necessary documentation, user guides and training are available. In addition to supporting FCDO Services, you’ll enjoy plenty of variety in your work as you help deliver different projects to a number of other government departments. Key to your success will be your ability to manage a high-quality service, deliver at pace in a fast-moving environment and maintain a strong user focus.

Work with support teams throughout our organisation

Your key responsibilities will be wide-ranging and include coordinating resources to ensure that service design requirements are realised, identifying any transition issues and negotiating improvements to the implementation plans. You’ll conduct regular reviews of transition activities with our operational support teams, make relevant recommendations and implement improvements. We’ll also expect you to help produce management information and internal KPI reports and ensure the service transition dashboard provides all the necessary details of new, amended or disabled services.

Use all your skills to deliver results that make a real difference.

With a strong customer focus and the ability to analyse, interrogate and evaluate data, we’ll expect you to possess strong systems operations, service architecture and stakeholder management skills, and be capable of interpreting, reviewing and writing technical documents. An experienced and confident communicator, you should have NVQ Level 3 qualifications such as A Levels, AS Levels or HNDs, and ITIL Foundation Certification. Any knowledge of operating IT systems within Government would be desirable, as would experience of working with the ServiceNow ITSM platform. If you have an ITIL Intermediate Certification in Service Transition this would be a bonus as would an understanding of service design and the documentation of processes and procedures.

Grow your career in the biggest way possible

When you join us, you’ll be contributing to protecting the nation’s interests at home and overseas – but how will we help you in return? As well as a competitive salary, generous holiday entitlement and a Civil Service pension, we’ll also support your development with training opportunities to help you advance your career with us. Our offices have an on-site gym, nursery, canteen, and we offer interest-free loans on season tickets and bikes to help you get there. It’s a superb package of benefits as you help to increase the effectiveness and security of our cyber systems.

If you’re successful with your application you’ll need to achieve Developed Vetting security clearance. This process can take some time, but the end result – an exciting and fulfilling career with FCDO Services – means that it’s well worth the wait.
