Health and Safety Advisor

At FCDO Services, we protect information, assets and people for government bodies worldwide. Whether it’s building and repairing embassies, delivering diplomatic goods across borders, or installing secure IT for government buildings, our work is vast and high-impact. Operating in some of the most challenging locations across the world, it goes without saying that Health and Safety (H&S) is a fundamental part of our work.

Support risk management as the team repair embassies

Joining our H&S team, you’ll play a key role in highlighting and assessing safety risks, as well as developing safety management strategies and activities. You’ll be focused particularly on managing risk in our construction and logistics functions supporting the teams that deliver around the world and the teams that build, repair and refurbish government buildings globally, including everyone from Architects and Joiners to Procurement and HR.

Create continuous improvement across continents

Ultimately, you’re the kind of person who never settles, you’re always improving and keeping up with best practice, making your whole organisation as safe as it can be. You’ll bring that energy to everything you do here. You’ll help manage and build on the H&S training programme, so that it can be delivered in a way that’s as effective as it is efficient. You’ll also help maintain the audit programme and monitor safety performance, producing and analysing health and safety management information to help us improve safety governance throughout the organisation. In short, wherever you see an opportunity for improvement, you’ll make it happen.

Take us to the next level – and reach new heights in H&S

We’re working with government customers at the highest levels, so we have to stay constantly focused on our customer promise to be reliable, responsive and build relationships. You’ll have the expertise to help be a strong communicator in your work with both senior stakeholders and customers alike. You will also have the credentials to back your advice, including a NEBOSH General Certificate in Occupational Health & Safety and if you have previous experience with an organisation in the international arena, so much the better.

There’s plenty of challenge here, but a real sense of reward too. For a start, you’ll have high-level exposure, a unique environment and a rare opportunity to influence internal behaviours whilst also enabling government work worldwide. You will also have the perks and benefits that come with life in the Civil Service, within an organisation that supports you, your lifestyle and your ambitions. Finally, on top of all that, you’ll have the pride that comes with knowing your team protects people, information and government buildings worldwide. Put it all together and one thing is clear, this is your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared before joining us, so you will need to undergo a vetting process if you’re successful in your application. This role would require you to undergo Security Clearance (SC) clearance. You can find out more about vetting on our website.
