Head of Operational Health & Safety
£50,653.00 - £63,495.00 plus £1,750 location allowance and excellent benefits including civil service pension and onsite nursery
Hanslope Park, Milton Keynes

FCDO Services work with government-level customers worldwide, offering services including secure construction, secure IT and digital solutions, secure logistics and more. We build and repair embassies. We carefully move government servers to the Cloud. We make sure critical deliveries stay safe as they move across the world.

Safety management forms a critical part of everything we do. So as the person overseeing health and safety for our entire international platform, you’ll be able to play a key part in our continuing success.

Ensure we work safely, wherever we are in the world
You will lead the team that sets policy, procedure and strategy for safe working across our global business. This will involve acting as the subject matter expert and working closely both with FCDO Services customers and with people at all levels of the organisation, from delivery teams right up to the CEO and the Board.

The role is likely to present you with a number of unique challenges, not only due to the international scope of our business but also because of the unusual and sometimes extreme environments we operate in. It is also key to effective governance of FCDO Services, as you ensure appropriate controls, deliver compliance audit programmes, and find effective solutions to complex health and safety issues.

Use your past experience to shape our team’s future
We’re looking for a proven leader and people manager who can show vision, exert influence, and interact confidently with some of our organisation’s most senior figures. You must be a Chartered Safety Practitioner (CMIOSH) who has worked with health and safety management systems and gained exposure to overseas operations in challenging environments. A background in construction or engineering would be ideal. It’s also very important that you can think outside the box and draw on your previous experience to develop innovative solutions to the varied and unusual challenges you are likely to face.

Find your job bigger – and your benefits too
At FCDO Services, you will be able to affect better safety management, not only across our UK business but also in uniquely challenging environments all over the world. The sense of achievement is refreshing – and so are the benefits, whether it’s the perks and pension that come with a Civil Service career, or our excellent support for work-life balance, including flexible working and an onsite OFSTED-registered nursery. You’ll find that you’re equipped to do your best work here, with an impact you never imagined. In short? It’s your job, bigger.

All our employees have to be security cleared to the highest level, so you will need to undergo a comprehensive vetting process before joining.
